This initiative aims to provide a sum of one thousand rupees to 95.90 lakh PDS beneficiaries, encompassing families with a total of 3,35,98,401 members. The implementation of this scheme requires a financial allocation of ₹959.05 crore.

Additionally, the government intends to distribute two complimentary jute carry bags, with capacities of 20 kg and 10 kg respectively, estimated to cost ₹278.69 crore. This step is taken in response to the rising prices of essential commodities and the challenges faced by PDS-supported households. The distribution of appropriately sized carry bags is intended to facilitate the convenient collection of PDS allotments of food grains from the fair price shop, addressing the difficulties faced by families in acquiring suitable bags at affordable prices.
