Meghalaya Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme 2023

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya state Mr.Conrad K. Sangma has launched Meghalaya Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme. Through this scheme, the Meghalaya government will support the poorest of the poor rural households through provision of 4 high yielding breed of piglets. This scheme will be done in 2 phases. In Phase 1 of this scheme, the government will allocate the 4 high yielding pigs to 6,000 people. The budget of Phase 1 is Rs.15.18 crores. After the successful completion of Phase 1 of this scheme Phase 2 will take place. The budget of Phase 2 will be Rs.40 crores. Almost 25 crore more than Phase 1. Through this scheme, the government wanted to increase breeding of pigs in the Meghalaya state. This scheme will also alleviate the defecit in pork supply through a strategy that includes the raising of pigs and all the necessary measures to be taken.

Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme Objective

The government of Meghalaya state has launched Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme with the objective to provide poor household or farmers with animal for animal husbandry. The government wanted to increase the breeding of pigs in the Meghalaya state. This scheme will also allow farmer to get extra money. With this money, farmers can increase their standard of living. This scheme will also alleviate the defecit in pork supply through a strategy that includes the raising of pigs and all the necessary measures to be taken. The Meghalaya government will support the poorest of the poor rural households through provision of 4 high yielding breed of piglets. Three of the 4 piglets will be female and 1 will be male.

Eligibility Criteria
