Prime Tourism Vehicle Scheme was started by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma in the presence of state tourism minister PulLyngdoh. The government has started this program because Meghalaya has a variety of tourist attractions. So to promote the tourist industry of Meghalaya the government has started this scheme. The government of Meghalaya has introduced 16 new Innova Crystals Car in this program.
Prime Tourism Vehicle Scheme was launched with the aim of improving the experience of traveling within the state. A total of 600 applications are submitted by the individual but the state tourist department only selected 50 applications under this program. In Meghalaya Prime Tourism Car Scheme the state government is providing a subsidy of 50% for buying new cars. The government of Meghalaya is also offering beneficiaries a loan repayment period of up to 2 years.
