Odisha Motor Vehicle Welfare Scheme was started by the Chief Minister of Odisha state Mr. Naveen Patnaik on 13th June 2023. In this scheme, the government is providing financial assistance to drivers who die or become disabled due to accidents happening while on duty. Under this scheme, the government is providing financial aid of Rs. 4 lakhs for accidents resulting in the death of the driver, 1.5 lakhs in case of permanent disability, and Rs. 80,000 for severe injuries and in case of normal death the beneficiary’s families will receive Rs. 2 lakhs. Motor Vehicle Welfare Scheme includes healthcare coverage and pension benefits worth of Rs. 5 lakhs. More than 5 lakh drivers and government employees will be going to get the benefit of this welfare program. This scheme will also include the benefit of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Scheme and the Madhubabu Pension Scheme.

Motor Vehicle Welfare Yojana Objective
The main objective of the Motor Vehicle Welfare Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the families of Odisha state drivers and employees who die or become permanently disabled due to accidents that happen while on duty. The amount of financial assistance provided to the beneficiaries will range from Rs.4 lakh to Rs.80 thousand. The amount of the financial assistance will be directly sent to the bank account of the beneficiaries through DBT mode.
