A new scheme has been created by the government of Odisha state in order to provide healthcare Insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs to each and every family of the state. The Government of Odisha state will provide benefits of Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to around 3.5 crore people throughout the state. Objective Of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
As we all know there are many citizens of the Odisha state who, due to their weak financial condition are not able to take proper treatment of their diseases. And the situation leads to the death of the people. To cope up with this situation, the Government of Odisha state has created a new scheme known as Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. Under this scheme, the health insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh will be provided to the citizens of the state. Now the people of the state will be able to take free of cost treatment without worrying about any financial hurdle.
- The main objective of Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is to provide health care facilities among the poor residents of the state.
- Also the additional Health Insurance of Rs. 2 lakh will be provided to the women.

CM Launched Air Health Services In State
The respected Chief Minister of the Odisha state has taken a great initiative known as Air Health Service in order to enhance the Healthcare services across the state under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. With the help of this initiative, the critical patient will be airlifted to the hospitals at the time of emergency. Also, the doctors will visit the remote and inaccessible areas with the help of an air ambulance to treat the patients. If the person is identified for this surgery then they will be brought to DHH. The first phase of this initiative will be launched in four districts of the state such as:-

CM Distribute Smart Health Card In Ganjam District
The respected Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 12th December 2021 has distributed the smart health card under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana in the Ganjam district of the state. Around 26.76 lakh beneficiaries of the district got benefited under this scheme. Along with that the CM also dedicated the development project on this special occasion which will supply basic amenities to the people of the district. Now all the people who got these smart health cards will be able to get that treatment under various hospitals without worrying about any hurdles.
Distribution Of Smart Health Card In Keonjhar On 18 November
The respected Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has distributed the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana smart cards in the district of Keonjhar on 18th November 2021. The chief minister has received this smart health virtually and said he is very excited to start this scheme across the district to protect the health of the people of this district. The main objective of launching this scheme across the state is to provide healthcare facilities to the poor citizens of the state. This scheme is beneficial for those who are not able to get treatment during their financial condition.
2.7 Lakhs Beneficiaries From Deogarh Will Get Benefit
The respected Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of the Odisha state on 9th October 2021 made a commitment to provide the benefit of distribution of smart health cards under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana among the beneficiaries of the state virtually. He said around 2.5 lakh beneficiaries will benefit from smart health cards. Now the government has decided to extend the facility to the entire population of the state. Until now the smart health card has been given to around 10 lakh people of the state. They have availed the health care services from Private hospitals of the amount Rs. 20 crores.
Implement Of Smart Health Card Under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
The implementation of smart health cards under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has been started on 1st September 2021. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has distributed the smart health card to the beneficiaries under this scheme in Malkangiri district on 21st August 2021. The smart health card under this scheme will be given to the beneficiaries phase-wise. The target of this scheme is to provide 3.5 crore smart health cards to around 96 lakh households. Around 1.55 beneficiaries got benefited from the smart health cards alone in the Malkangiri District.
Expansion Of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
The Government of Odisha state has created a new scheme known as Biju Swasthya Kalyan in order to provide Health Insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs. With the help of this scheme, the free of cost Health Care treatment will be provided to the citizens of the state. The government on 15th August 2021, has decided to expand this scheme to provide the benefit of this scheme to 3.5 crore people of the state. These people will receive smart health cards under this scheme.
- Until now the government was providing the benefit of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to only Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana and Antoydaya Anna Yojana with the annual income below Rs. 2 lakh.
- But now the government has decided to cover the beneficiaries of national and state food security schemes, Annapoorna and Antoydaya beneficiaries also.
Beginning Of Distribution Of Smart Health Cards
As we all know that the Government of Odisha state has extended this scheme in order to provide cashless treatment of up to rupees 5 lakh to the poor citizens of the state. With the help of this extended scheme, the 3.5 crore people will be able to get hassle-free cashless treatment without worrying about any financial hurdle. All the beneficiaries of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana will get a smart health card that would look like a debit card. In the first phase of this scheme, all the beneficiaries will get health cards from 1st September 2021.
- With the help of this smart health card they would be able to get the treatment under 200 empanelled hospitals that are present across the country.
- Also the government in future is going to empanelled more hospitals under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for the smooth running.
Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Revised Eligibility
The revised eligibility criteria under this scheme are as follows:-
- The Government of the state is going to add the beneficiaries of national food security act and state food security act under Swasthya Kalyan Yojana.
- These added beneficiaries will be able to get the treatment of this scheme from 1st September 2021.
- The beneficiaries can use their NFSA or SFSA cards until they get smart card from the beneficiaries
- The benefit of Health Insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs will be provided to these beneficiaries.
- Also the Government of Orissa has added 17 empanelled hospitals from outside the state and 183 empanelled hospitals within the state.
Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana 2023
As we all know that the government is going to expand Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to the outside of the state. The main aim of expanding this scheme outside the state is to provide healthcare facilities to the citizens of the state who are living in the other state. The state government has added to hundred empanelled hospitals from Odisha and 20 super speciality hospitals from outside the state. The government is providing 4036 Health Care packages under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. Also, the government is going to conduct a third-party audit in order to ensure the smooth implementation of this scheme.
Medical Colleges Are Covered Under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
In order to provide free cost Health Care facilities among the poor residents of the state, the Odisha government has created Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana in the year 2018. Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has become the most successful scheme of the state. As it provides cashless treatment to all people irrespective of their income, residents and status. Now the government has decided to extend the free healthcare services into the Government Medical College hospitals. So that each and every citizen can take the benefit of this scheme through the government medical hospital.

The Government of the Odisha state is providing health insurance cover of up to Rs. 5 lakhs amongst the residents of the state. The women under Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana were also getting the additional Health Insurance of up to Rs. 2 lakhs but the government has raised this financial assistance to Rs. 3 lakhs. The benefit of this scheme will be provided to around 1.5 crore women of the state. Now the women of the state don’t need to think about any financial problem while getting the treatment of the diseases.
Components Of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
There are around three components of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. Such components are mentioned below:-
- Health Insurance:- The Government of the Odisha state will provide the health insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakhs to the people belonging to economically weaker sections of society. This scheme will provide benefits to around 70 lakh economically vulnerable families.
- Free Health Care Facilities:- All the people of the state will get free of cost healthcare services in respective of their income status and residence. The people of the state can get these services from District headquarters hospital to sub centres level.
- Drop Back Assistance:- The pregnant women and sick infants will get Rs. 500 under this scheme. Also the transport facilities will be given at the time of delivery and treatment in the hospital.

The Government of Odisha state in a recently held meeting with the State Health assurance society decided that, each and every and empanelled Private Hospital will be provided with help desk facilities for the beneficiaries of the state. As the patient under Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana finding it is difficult to access the benefit. To cope up with this problem the government is going to provide the perfect facilities so that the benefit of beneficiaries can get access to the benefit. This help desk facility will help the beneficiary to follow all the steps to avail the benefit of cashless treatment.

- The beneficiaries under this scheme are not required to pay any premium amount.

- He or she must be a Biju krushak Kalyan Yojana card holder.
