On 3rd January 2004 under section 18 of the Building and Other Construction Workers (RE & CS)Act, 1996, the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was constituted. Construction workers or labourers who are registered with the Odisha Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board can avail of a Job Card known as Odisha Labour Card. The Odisha Labour Card has been launched to control and ensure the occupation and organization of laborers. The Welfare Board will provide a variety of incentives to all residents who names will appear in the Odisha Labour Card List. The list is often made public by the district which includes the names of the beneficiaries.
