On February 2, Finance Minister of Gujarat Kanubhai Desai make an announcement of the Namo Shri Yojana while he was presenting the budget in the Parliament. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 12000 will be provided to pregnant women and expectant mothers by the Gujarat government. The financial assistance will be provided by next year which will be 2024-25. Finance Minister has presented a budget of total of Rs. 750 Crore. This will help the pregnant sisters to maintain their health and mothers can nurture their newborns. A total provision of Rs. 21,000 Crore has been made by the Government of Gujarat under the health department for the next year.

- According to an estimate, about 12 lakh newborn babies are born in Gujarat every year. Many of them die due to lack of nutrition. That’s why the Government of Gujarat has come out with the main objective behind the launch of Namo Shri Yojana which is to provide health protection to newborn babies and pregnant women. So that pregnant sisters and mothers can get nutritious food easily.
