About Chief Minister Girl Child Protection Scheme 2024
The Government of Tamil Nadu State has introduced a very innovative scheme for the girl children of the state which is named as Chief Minister Girl Child Protection Scheme. This scheme is introduced for the benefit and welfare of the girl child. The Child Protection Scheme is aimed at preventing gender discrimination by empowering and protecting rights of girl children by providing financial aid. An amount of Rs. 50,000/- in the form of fixed deposit will be provided to the family with one girl child only which born on or after 1 August 2011. An amount of Rs. 25,000/- will be deposited in the names of two girl children in the form of fixed deposit born on or after 1 August 2011.

- Girls will receive Rs. 1800/- annual incentives every year after 6 years of deposit to support their educational expenses.
- The state government will renew this amount every 5 years.
- Girl child will receive interest on this deposit on completion of 18 years of age.
- It aims to support for their higher education so they must appear for 10th standard board examination to avail this benefit.

The two deposit methods are available under this scheme for a girl child:
Scheme 1 | Any girl born on or after 1st August 2011 will receive Rs. 50,000/- as a fixed deposit with the receipt. Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited will give it to families with 1 girl child. |

Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefit under this scheme you should fulfil these eligibility criteria:
- Only girl child of Tamil Nadu State are eligible.
- Applicant’s family annual income should be below Rs. 72,000/-
- Family should not have any boy child.
- The girl child must be enrolled in an educational institution.
