The chief minister of Odisha, Mr. Naveen Patnaik, has launched the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme. Under this scheme, the government will encourage inter caste marriages in society. Through this scheme, financial assistance will be provided by the government to that married husband and wife who have done marriage without worrying about society.  The financial assistance that will be provided under this scheme will be directly deposited in the bank account of the beneficiary.  Previously this amount was Rs.50,000. But after some time the Government had changed this amount to Rs.1 Lakh. Odisha’s Chief Minister has stated that the amount that will be provided to the beneficiaries is now Rs.1.5 lakhs. Financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakhs will be provided to the beneficiary through this scheme.

Inter Caste Marriage Scheme 2024 Objective

Terms And Conditions

The terms and conditions under Odisha Inter Caste Marriage Scheme are as follows:-

• One of the spouses should belong to Scheduled Castes as prescribed under Article 341 of the Constitution of India.
• The incentive will also be given for the purchase of lands/Essential articles for households or for starting a business.
• The wedding must be solemnised between a Hindu caste and a Scheduled Caste belonging to the Hindu community.
• Both the spouses should be citizens of India, Permanent residents of Odisha and both should be professing Hindu Religion.
• The incentive and other facilities will only be applicable only after the date of issue of the resolution issued by the government.
• There will be no incentive applicable on second marriages.
• The exception to the aforementioned rule is that if the bride is a widow or the bride-groom is a widower. Then they are entitled to the incentive. This condition should be clearly stated in the marriage certificate.
• The marriage should be valid as per the law and duly as registered under the Hindu Marriage Act,1955.
